Bei Jing, China (Oct 29, 2018) - World Wild Fund (WWF) calls on China to stop by using the tiger born and rhino horn as the commercial purpose due to it will affect the numerous of both animals decreasing directly.
WWF immediately made straight forward contact with China to inform them that they feel concerned about China’s announcement that the use of the tiger born and rhino horn as commercial purpose is legalized.
“We feel deeply worried about the allowing of the wild animals trades that will have devastating consequences globally due to China having reversed its 25 years old tiger bone and rhino horn ban,” Margaret Kinnaird, WWF Wildlife Practice Leader said.
WWF feel that it is a gamble for China to take the legal trade to the tiger born and rhino horn as well as with the low population of wild tiger and rhino.
“China’s experience with the domestic ivory trade has clearly shown the difficulties of trying to control the parallel legal and illegal markets for ivory.
It not only led it to the risk of legal trade providing cover to illegal trade, although the policy of banning was also put in place, the stimulated demand that had still maintained,” he added.
WWF makes further calls on China and hopes them to set a clear plan and timeline to close existing captive tiger breeding facilities which are used for commercial purposes.
