Police found out RM1mil drugs worths in vehicles’ compartments
Johor Bahru, 30 December 2020- Police have found out RM1mil drugs worth which had been stored in the compartments of vehicles by the drugs syndicates that used to escape from being charged with drug possession.
According to Johor police chief Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, they found the drugs were stored inside the toolbox compartments of a tow truck and the rest were inside the spare tyre compartment of a CRV.
Four men were arrested and drugs worth RM1mil were seized during raids conducted in Muar and Johor Bahru on Dec 26 and Dec 27.
“We confiscated 23.9kg of syabu worth RM1mil, three litres of ketum juice worth RM60 and 480g ketum leaves worth RM4.80,” he said.
Comm Ayob added that the syndicate became active recently because their modus operandi was to store the drugs inside the vehicles before sending and selling to Indonesia’s markets.
“It is difficult to pin them down because the owners of the vehicles can be different compared to seizing drugs,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) and Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act and Section 30(3) of the Poison Act.
A race between the time and the Fire Department
Kuantan: Pahang Fire and Rescue Department rushed to transport multiple organs by a helicopter to National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur within 90-minutes flight.
According to its director, Wan Mohammad Zaidi Wan Isa, a family of a recently deceased donor agreed to donate four main organs to National Heart Institute.
“Due to the short window to carry out the transplant, Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan requested the help of our assistants to transport the organs as fast as possible to the National Heart Institute,” Wan Mohammad Zaidi added.
Four medical personnel on board the AW 139 9M-BOC helicopter together with our assistants took off from the department’s headquarters in Indera Mahkota at about 6pm on Monday for an estimated 90-minutes flight.
It is understood that although many pledged to be organ donors, their loved ones often refused to give consent after their demise.
