Jack Lim Teik Yin

Jack Lim Teik Yin is a well-known artist in Malaysia. He was born on April 8, 1975 in Ipoh, Perak. He graduated from Form 3 high school level. Since he was 17 years old, Jack Lim started working in a karaoke shop. During that moment, his job was only finding the video tapes, playing songs and being the Dejaying when there were the customers enjoying themselves in the rooms. Besides, he also had been acting for 9 years until he went to China. As an actor, he also had produced a film and being a singer but was not recognized by the public.

He began to be famous when he hosted a singing competition programme which was called Astro Star Queen. After that, he was led by one of the judges in MY FM, Vivian Zhuo Hui Qin and became one of the My FM deejaying. This radio Deejaying career has made his life changed. After he became famous, the host fee for an event has soared from the initial 5,000 ringgit to nearly 30,000 ringgit. The workload has increased from 5 or 6 per year at the beginning to the current average of 600. He is not only popular in his career as a radio Deejaying, but also his actor character as a security role with the name of “ Ah Beng” also makes people notice and know about him. The charge for him to the one- second advertisement of his “Ah Beng” character role has risen until RM300. Due to this, it can be said that he is the person that is breaking the entertainment industry rule which is that radio advertisements have always been paid RM10 per second before. Besides, he also has been a producer and screenwriter so that he can invest in the development of filmmaking.

Jack Lim not only focused his work in entertainment industries. He also has been a restaurant manager. He said: “ it is no easy task, I can tell you that! But I get by because of my wife. She's my manager, and she manages everything in my life, from my meals to my jobs to my leisure time. Last year, she told me I worked a total of 600 jobs, which goes to show that she knows how to accept jobs that she knows I can do. Usually my routine would be to wake up around 4 in the morning, then go to work till about 2 or 3 the next morning, then come home, take a quick shower and nap, then 2, 3 hours later, I'm up and it's the same thing all over. Some weeks, I slept less than 10 hours total. It can't be helped though, because I love money more than sleep!”

Currently, Jack Lim becomes the ambassador to endorse the brands such as Sony TV, Samsung mobile phones, and the Malaysia travel brand “ Golden Destinations (GD) Golden Journey”, Japan’s Yakult Yakult probiotics and telecommunications company Yes and so on. He said: “ he has planned and conceived advertisements for many real estate developers.” He has been a supervisor and invested in filming films. Besides, he also has opened two Gents Cuts hair salons with friends.

In addition, he also likes to buy real estate. So far, he has 11 houses in his hand. He takes this action because he thinks that real estate is a long-term investment and also regarded as one of the savings. This is because he believes that he puts money in the bank does not preserve or appreciate the value of the money. Therefore, he usually buys these houses when he is endorsing a real estate company. He pays the house price by competing with the developer. This is because he wants to see if he makes money faster or the developer builds it faster. Most of the time. After the developer built the house, he also finished supplying the house.

Jack Lim can be a good role model for everyone. This is because he puts a lot of effort into his work so that his life can be better in the future. Well, it is successful because it can be seen through a lot of achievements that he reached. For example, it is a surprise that Jack Lim claimed that he had sold 20 apartment units costing totally RM 6 million in less than 10 seconds. Besides, he as an actor and a producer had shot a lot of films since 2009 until now with a total of 18 films. He also has been the host to conduct the television show and the total number of the programmes that he hosted is 5 programmes.
